The iAIR Institute had a constructive meeting with the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) during a recent U.S. trade mission, discussing future collaborations to advance building science, indoor environmental quality, and sustainability.

During our recent trade mission to the United States for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Conference, NeoCon, and Design Days, the iAIR Institute had the privilege of meeting with the team at the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS). This meeting marked a significant step forward in our shared commitment to advancing indoor environmental quality and building science.

NIBS, an independent non-profit organization established by the U.S. Congress in 1974, plays a critical role in ensuring that the walls surrounding us—whether in homes, offices, or communities—are safe, structurally sound, and sustainable. By serving as a vital interface between government and the private sector, NIBS brings together experts from across the building industry, design, architecture, construction, and government. Their mission is to lead conversations that ensure our buildings and communities remain safe while working to develop consensus solutions to the most pressing challenges in the building process.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Sarah Swango, Jennifer Hitzke, and Stephanie Stubbs for their warm hospitality and the valuable insights they shared during our meeting. Their dedication to collaboration and innovation in building science is inspiring.
